Art Van Maren
President
Art Van Maren is president of the VanMar Constructors Group of Companies. He has 38 years of construction experience and has led the development, design, and construction of numerous residential, institutional, industrial, commercial, and healthcare building projects in BC, Ontario, Saskatchewan, and Washington. These projects were delivered in a variety of different contractual method including turn-key, design-build, construction management at risk and construction management.
Art started his career in construction by working in the field as a labourer and carpenter, and moving up through the various field positions as assistant superintendent and superintendent before leaving the field to work in the office to work as a project manager, general manager and Vice President of construction, responsible for all design and construction activities in the firm. When Art’s partners retired from construction in 2002, Art rebranded the company as VanMar Constructors Inc. and has filled the position of President and General Manager since 2002. Art’s experience in design and construction both in the field and the office has given him a well-rounded background in construction that continues to serve him well in managing the companies. In 2015, VanMar also moved into residential development and has since delivered a number of residential projects with Art involved in the development management.
